Step by step instructions for adding an image to your page using structured text

There are three ways to write web documents in soundCommons: Structured Text, HTML and Plain Text. Use the language that's easiest for you to master.

First we'll upload an image:

  1. Save the image on your local machine as a jpeg or gif.
  2. Go to my folder in soundCommons
  3. Make sure you are in contents view
  4. (recommended) Add a folder to my folder and name it images
  5. Navigate to your new images folder and select add new item ---> image (do not use photo or photoalbum for this)
  6. Leave the name of the image blank - the software will automatically add this once you upload.
  7. (optional) Enter the title and description of the image (not needed if you're only loading it for placement on another page)
  8. Select the browse button locate the image you want to upload on your hard drive and select save

You should see the image open once it's uploaded. click edit and note the name of your image which should be at the top of the page (here it's package.jpg).

  2. Add the structured text code:

The text in quote marks is what shows if the image is missing. img is the structured text code. images/package.jpg tells is the path to the location of the image.

Here's the code as it appears in the edit window:

and here's what the document looks like in the view window:

Once you are satisfied with everything - change the state of the document and the images to published so we can see it!
