Here is a contribution from Albert Ortega:

"Objects of Attention"

this game piece:

- is very quick (a 10 second rest followed by 10 seconds of sound)
- is performed BY many and performed FOR a one-member audience
- can be repeated intermittantly to other one-member audiences
- super fun

the instrumentation can vary (eg. loud drone > soft decay, soft arhythmic
flutter beats) for each performance but should always follow this
sequence of events:

-An Object holder (1 chosen soundcommons member) walks up to a person.

- The Object Holder says to the person these exact lines:

"I'm conducting an experiment on perception. I want you to hold this
<object> like this: <object holder puts the object in front of his/her own
face thus obstructing vision> "I want you to stare at <the object> for 10
seconds. Count slowly and think about what you see. After 10 seconds you
can put <the object> down.

- The Object Holder hands the person the "object of attention"

- The Object Holder tells the person to start counting.

- As the person counts, The Object Holder will signal The entire
soundcommons orchestra to gather quickly but silently around the person
and maintain silent. when the person lowers <the object> this signals
the downbeat for every member to sound for exactly 10 seconds then stop.

What is key to this piece is its sense of unexpected suprise.
this means that other members should just blend into the backround
while the Object Holder talks to the one-member audience.
the sounds should not be loud, but maintain a quiet, dynamic range.
the chosen instruments should be simple enough to carry around.
voice or body sounds can substitute instruments.
i will provide "the objects of attention" which can simply be a box or
anything large enough to block a person's vision.
